Allergy is a medical condition where the system immune overacts to specific substance, which is harmless for normal people. Allergy can indicate that the body refuses something strange in. Based on statistic data, an estimated 21 million adults in the UK suffer from at least one allergy (Mintel, 2010). In addition, by 2015 50% Europeans will suffer from an allergy (EFA, 2011). There are three cases about this disorder will be explained. They are the causes of allergy, area of the body that usually affected, and the way to prevent the allergy.

Allergy does not come over without any reason. In other words, there is substance that causes allergy. It is called allergen. There are some common allergens for example, dust mites, pollen, foods (such as peanuts, cow’s milk, soy, seafood, and eggs), cats and other furry or hairy animals, insect stings, moulds, and medicines. Besides, there is a tendency that allergy is inherited or there is a genetic factor which makes you get an allergy. If you are allergic to a substance, chances are one in three that your child will also get an allergy. If both parents have allergies, the child has a 65-75% chance of developing allergies.

Part of body that is affected by allergy is depended on the allergen. If the allergen is airborne, you will probably get allergy on your eyes, nose, lungs or breathing problems. While if the allergen has a contact with your skin, you will get a rash or itches on your skin. Then if you get allergy because of eating foods or drink medicines, your stomach, mouth, and intestine will react allergic.

There is no way to prevent allergy, but at least you can avoid the allergen. It is important to know the content of what you eat and pay attention to the environment you stay. Yet if you have got an allergy, you should consult to your doctor as soon as possible.

Allergy occurs without we realize it before. Therefore, if someone has an allergy symptom on his body, he must know what its cause in order to avoid the allergen. Furthermore, it is suggested to consult about the allergy to the doctor.
